There is always, always something to be thankful for

Finally . . . encouraging words!

For most of the day, Daniel's pupil continued to be dilated abnormally. As the day wore on, though, it slowly returned to almost normal size. The neurologist said there might be one millimeter of difference between the two. All of the doctors who saw Daniel found no neurological problem and no evidence of tumor behind his eye. The general consensus is that Daniel accidentally rubbed his eye after touching the patch he wears on his neck for mucus control. The drug in the patch caused the pupil's response. After the worries of yesterday, we rejoice at such good news.

Daniel has continued to have tremendous pain upon swallowing today. It took the team of doctors until about 7:00 p.m. to get his pain under control, but they worked diligently, and now he feels much better. He has even talked and drunk water this evening, both of which were nearly impossible earlier in the day.

Since the pupil issue seems to be resolved, Daniel will most likely be discharged as soon as his pain is again under control. Instead of thinking about going home tonight, we could be considering treatment options for a nasty tumor.

As a dear friend often reminds me, there is always, always something to be thankful for.

Thank you so much for supporting Daniel in thoughts and prayers from your homes and understanding that he needs rest during this hospital stay.

Prayer requests:
1. Healing.
2. Mucus and pain control.
3. Continued bed rest when he gets home.
4. Strength and faith to begin new treatments.
5. Everyone who's suffering with an illness.
6. God's will - always.

God's best to you all . . .

Doug

Daniel and family,

I don't even know where to begin. I received the link to this blog from an email prayer chain that I am on and have been a part of since attending Tennessee Tech from 1997-2001.

I read this blog like it was the best book I have ever picked up...the words were from The Father, channeling through Daniel and others directly to my heart and soul. I have spent the past hour or better reading, crying, and praying (all while at work!!).

I know Daniel's physical outlook is grim, but as he has said over and over "God is my doctor." Daniel completely trusts in the Lord's Plan, and that is truly comforting...not only to his family, but to total strangers stuck in cubicles at a bank in Michigan!

Daniel has that "Randy Pausch" attitude, I can see it in his writing. His words have touched my soul, and have given me a sense of urgency to "do more". What that means, I'm not sure, but I am praying for The Father's Guidance on this.

And one more quick note before I leave...last night, I had a fight with my wife. I said some very mean things to her, and reading this blog has filled my heart with The Spirit, and has made me want to crawl to her to beg forgiveness. So, Daniel and family, I thank you.

I will raise you up in prayer to The Father.

Godspeed,
Bryan

Doug,
Once again thank you for being a "voice" for Daniel! Such wonderful news! I am so thankful that tonight you can think of being discharged home soon instead of considering other treatment options. Our God is an awesome God! Daniel, just knowing that you have found some physical relief from the pain is joyous news. I am so glad to hear that you have been able to talk some and drink some today. There is always something to be thankful for... sometimes we just have to look a lil harder to find it but it is always there :) We will continue to lift you all up in prayer...
In Him and with love,
Tammy and your MS family

Daniel, Doug and Family,
PRAISE THE LORD for all things, even the small patch answers. Robert and I understand slightly how precious the small things are and we are so thankful that there was some good news. As a nurse I understand the joy in sips of water for our loved ones. May God continue to lift you all and be right there beside you through these trials. Daniel, We love you and pray for you pain to be healed and controlled, we are so hoping to come and see you when you feel stronger. You have blessed us in every way possible. Thank you for all you dont know you have done. And thank you Lord for bring us together. We continue to lift you up in prayer, Robert and Kim Marascalco MS

Daniel & Family,
Well I didn't know that you had a blog until today, which I had found off of Facebook. I was wondering how you (Daniel) were doing, and wow, I now am brought to tears of sadness and of joy. I am overly encouraged by you and your family of the witness and testimony of God's love and encouragement. I tend to be one that questions, "Why? Why this one Lord?" But I know He has a greater plan and that I have to hold and trust in. I will be continually praying.
